Near the beautiful River Eden, in the ancient town of Appleby in Westmorland, this traditional 17th century coaching inn offers free Wi-Fi and en suite rooms. The Royal Oak Appleby is rated as a 4-star Silver Inn by VisitBritain, the tourist board of the United Kingdom. Fully refurbished during 2008 and early 2009, all of the rooms have high-quality beds and en suite shower rooms. Each room has a flat-screen TV with free view channels. All rooms (excluding the Cottage) have free Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi is available in the public areas. There is also a charming 2-bedroom stone cottage ideal for families or groups of friends. The inn offers real cask ales and the very popular restaurant serves good quality pub food, made using the finest ingredients from local suppliers. The inn makes a great base from which to explore the Pennine Way, the Lake District or the Settle-Carlisle railway. Appleby Railway Station is just a few hundred metres away.

A maximum of one well behaved dog per room is welcome for an additional charge of GBP 20 per dog, per night, subject to availability. All dogs must be pre-booked to ensure availability. If you bring your dog without prior confirmation from the property, you may not be able to check-in as the dog friendly rooms are subject to availability. Dogs are not permitted in the breakfast room or lounge bar, however, there is a dog friendly restaurant which is open for lunch and evening meals. Guests are advised to make a reservation. This hotel does not accept American Express. Children are welcome in all areas. As the Royal Oak is a 17th century building, we are unable to offer any facilities for guests with mobility issues. Wi-Fi is not available in the cottage.
